About WikiKratom
An independent publication tracking kratom law, science and safety across Europe and the United States. We sell nothing.
Why this exists
Almost everything written about kratom online is written by someone selling it. Search for whether it is legal in your country, whether it is addictive, or what a given strain does, and you will land on a shop's blog, where the answer is reliably reassuring, rarely sourced, and often years out of date.
Meanwhile the facts that actually matter to people are genuinely hard to find. Kratom is a controlled substance in at least twelve European countries and legal but unapproved for consumption in several more. In the United States it is the subject of an active federal scheduling fight. Nobody maintains a reliable, dated, sourced record of any of it, and the confident answers you will find are routinely wrong.
That record is what we are building.
What we do
- Track the law, country by country, with a last-verified date on every page.
- Report the regulatory story as it happens: scheduling actions, bans, court rulings, novel-food decisions.
- Summarise the science honestly, including the large parts of it that remain unsettled.
- Publish harm-reduction information for people who are going to make their own decisions regardless of what any website tells them.
What we don't do
We do not sell kratom, rate vendors, run affiliate links, carry advertising or accept payment for coverage. We are not a shopping guide and we are not an advocacy organisation. Kratom has enough of both.
Who writes this
WikiKratom is edited by Jill Rietveld, who writes as J. Rietveld. That is a pen name, and we would rather say so than let you find out.
The pseudonym is for personal privacy. Kratom is prohibited in several European countries, and our editor works in an industry where being publicly associated with it carries professional consequences. It is not a way of dodging accountability, and it is not a licence to invent a person: there is no author photograph on this site, and we claim no qualifications we do not hold.
Accountability rests with the publisher, K-EYE B.V., registered in the Netherlands under KvK number 69926174 at Industrieweg 14G, 1231 KH Loosdrecht, Netherlands. It stands behind everything here. Our editorial policy sets out how we source and verify. K-EYE B.V. also owns a European kratom retailer, which is a commercial interest in the market we cover: our conflict-of-interest disclosure sets out what that means and what we do about it.
We use AI to research and draft, and a human editor checks every legal and health claim against its primary source before it goes out. We say so on the record because you should know how what you are reading was made.
We use it for some illustrations too, and those are labelled underneath the picture with the model and the prompt. A generated image here can only ever show a plant, a place or an object: never a document or a chart, which would be inventing evidence, and never a person. The editorial policy sets out the full rules, and every image is listed on the credits page.
