WikiKratom publishes information and journalism. We are not clinicians, we have never met you, and nothing on this site is medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.

If you are making a decision about your health, talk to a doctor or a pharmacist. That is true generally, and it is especially true if you take other medication, since kratom's alkaloids interact with the liver enzymes that process many common drugs, or if you are pregnant, or if you are managing a dependence on opioids.

We report what the evidence shows and where it is thin, which for kratom is most places. Reporting that a study found something is not us telling you to act on it.

This is not legal advice, and the law moves

Our legal pages describe our reading of the law in a given country on the date shown at the top of each page. They are research, not legal advice, and we are not your lawyers.

Drug law changes quickly and often quietly. A substance can be added to a schedule by a ministerial order that takes effect the week it is signed. Import rules can differ from possession rules, which can differ again from rules on sale. A page that was accurate when we verified it may not be accurate when you read it.

Check the current position yourself before you act on anything here, particularly before crossing a border. We cite the underlying instruments on every legal page precisely so that you can. If you find we are out of date, tell us.

We are not encouraging anyone to use kratom

Writing accurately about a substance is not promoting it. We publish no dosing instructions, no advice on obtaining kratom where it is prohibited, and no vendor recommendations of any kind. Kratom is a controlled or prohibited substance in a number of countries, and in some of them possession alone is a criminal offence.

Accuracy, and what happens when we get it wrong

We cite primary sources for every legal and health claim, and a human editor checks each one against the source document before publication. Our editorial policy sets out how that works.

We still get things wrong. When we do, we correct the page and record what changed in a public corrections log rather than editing quietly. What we cannot do is warrant that everything here is complete and current at the moment you read it, and to the extent the law allows, we exclude liability for decisions taken on the basis of this site. That is not us disclaiming responsibility for our work. It is us being honest that a website cannot carry the weight of a decision only you have the full facts about.

Links to other sites

We link to primary sources: legislation, regulators, court judgments, journal articles. Those sites are not ours and we do not control what they publish or what they do with your data.

We do not link to kratom vendors, ever, and we accept no payment for any link. See our conflict-of-interest disclosure for why that rule exists and what it costs us.

Quote us. Take a paragraph, take a finding, use it in your own reporting or your own research, with attribution and a link. These terms are governed by Dutch law, and disputes go to the competent court in the Netherlands.
